How To Publish Blog and E-newsletter

In this article you will learn the 3 major reasons why we have to publish e-newsletter and blogs. With spam filters on high alert, delivering a newsletter by email is not as easy as it was even one year ago. Should it reach your subscriber's inbox (without getting siphoned into a junk folder), it still has to vie for attention amongst dozens ? or even hundreds ? of new messages.

1. A blog is not "email"

A Weblog or blog, on the other hand, is a page on your site that can be updated several times a week with fresh content. If a reader has "subscribed" to your blog, he or she gets an alert (consisting of the headline and brief summary) every time you post new information.

I.e., much the same way you can include a teaser paragraph in your e-newsletter with a link back to the full article on your site.

If you're thinking that subscribers have to proactively "visit" your blog (a "pull" tactic) vs. having an ezine or e-newsletter delivered to them (a "push" approach) there's good news.

You can subscribe to a blog using downloadable software called a newsreader. NewsGator www.newsgator.com is a popular one as it integrates seamlessly with Outlook. There are lots of newsreaders to choose from, many of them free. Once installed on your desktop, the newsreader (also called a news aggregator) grabs the latest updates to your blog via an RSS feed.

No need to worry what RSS is (it stands for Really Simple Syndication). Just have faith that RSS is a new way to publish and distribute content on the Web without using email. And that's the point. No email. So, no worries about spam filters or delivery problems.

2. A blog is an instant publishing tool

A blog is an easy-to-use content management tool. When you "blog," you are instantly adding new content to your site via a Web interface. No technical or programming skills are necessary. Anyone can update the copy and content on your site. In fact, think of a blog as just another page on your Web site.

Key point: a blog doesn't have to be "cool." A steady stream of short tips with links to other sites or articles can be extremely useful. (See my article 5 tips for a useful resource blog.) In fact, this is the same kind of useful information you may be cramming into each issue of your newsletter. With a blog, you can parcel it out in digestible bits - with more impact.

3. A blog makes your site search engine friendly

Search engines love blogs and will index individual entries (no matter how short) if you've got your blogging software configured to create a separate page for each new post. In other words, think of each blog post or entry as a Web page with its own title.

By incorporating a blog into your site you are creating multiple new mini pages. Search engines crawl sites which are updated regularly with fresh content. So "blogging" raises your site's rankings in search results.

OK, but are blogs a fad or a trend?

I love this question. Here's my answer:

Newsletters or ezines are still the e-vehicle of choice for most marketers. Two things are slowing the adoption of blogs as a channel for business communication:

1. The term blogging is associated with online journals; personal, unedited writing; and, er, needless bloviating.

2. Most folks don't know what a news reader is and why you need one to subscribe to a blog or any other RSS feed. (Again, don't fret over RSS. Visit www.newsgator.com for a good explanation and to see how easy it is to download a newsreader.)

Use a blog to extend the reach of your e-newsletter

My advice for now is to continue publishing an e-newsletter. If you're sending it in HTML, trim your design down to the bare minimum and make the file size as small as possible. This will give you a better chance of getting past the spam filters and other blocking tools being used by major ISPs like AOL.

Of course, don't forget to link back to your blog through each issue of your e-newsletter. You'll probably need to explain to your newsletter readers what your blog is, where to find it and how to subscribe to it.

If you think your email subscribers are not ready to embrace "newsreaders," then don't mention this downloadable software - or RSS for that matter. Simply include a prominent link to your blog in the layout of your newsletter and remind readers to "visit" often for updates between issues.

Bottom line, consider adding a blog to your site for two reasons: as an instant publishing tool and as an adjunct to your email marketing efforts. You may find you can use a blog to trim down the extraneous information that's clogging the regular issues of your newsletter and making it less effective.

Create blogs to network marketing tools

by zhack jolliena

Now this year you will find many sites offering free blogs, free hosting as well, there can be no excuses for not creating your own blog. Most people loves to get much traffic as soon as possible and added to your own affiliate links, and one way to do that is create blogs.

Imagine that your own blogs as a virtual real estate. When your presence on the internet is greater than the more chances the people receiving exposure to your offer.

Just create a unique subject of your blogs, a lot of things you can do. By posting some articles you write by your own that relate to the program you are promoting on your blog, or just simply post other people's articles. I personally recommend writing your own articles and posting them on your blog because this way you will be adding a new fresh unique content, and therefore you will be rewarded by search engine rankings. Make sure that you submit your articles to the article directories at least one week after posting them to your blog. This ensures that the search engines have plenty of time to spider your site and credit you for being the original publisher.

Else If you don't wish to put articles on your blog, you could talking about your own experiences of some products or program that you are promoting, on an ongoing basis. You could also write your own review of the program, making sure to not only mention the major benefits and features of the program, but also to highlight any slight faults inherent in the program for added credibility. People will appreciate your honesty as most so-called reviews are nothing more than hyped-up sales pitches.

Whatever you post on your blog, you should make sure that you include prominent links to your own affiliate links. You can try by putting these links in both the side bar, and at the end of every post you make, if appropriate. Talking of which, after every post be sure to notify the various search engines by using 'ping' services like Pingomatic and Pingoat. This is a very simple process and will help you to get more extra traffic to your blog in the long run.

Now you're know that Blogs are a great tool for many network marketers, including myself, are using with great effect. With all things being equal, blogs tend to rank higher than conventional websites, helped by the fact that they are generally updated with fresh content. Combine this with a good link campaign, and we can start to receive a lot of exposure for your network marketing program. All this from a free blogs that will takes just a few minutes to create.

Tips Why Rss Beats Email Marketing

A brand new marketing tool predicted to replace email iscurrently sweeping the World Wide Web like a storm.

The Internet is experiencing the so-called "orange" revolutionand there's no stopping to it. The online marketing world isrigorously seen chanting a 3-letter mantra, R-S-S.

Yes, RSS is here and it's got substance, material, style, sophistication?

In a word, it's got the 'X' factor.

RSS, which stands for "Really Simple Syndication", is the newestand the fastest growing technology online. Many publishers, webmasters and marketers are adopting RSS. It has helped spam godown to a great extent and made bulk messages a thing of past.

No wonder spammers are shaking in their boots all over the web!

Here are 6 strong reasons why RSS beats email marketing to thecore:

1. Kiss Spam Filters Goodbye - RSS can help you distribute yourcontent directly to your subscribers, without any spam filtersinterfering. Your messages will never get blacklisted andblocked and will always be delivered promptly, unless and untilyour subscribers choose to end the relationship themselves.

2. Subscribing Is Easy - Your subscribers don't have to worryabout giving out any of their personal details to subscribe andread your RSS feeds. All they need to do is, add your feed totheir online or desktop RSS reader and that's it. They are readyto receive and read content from you without any hassles.

3. Un-subscribing Is Easier - Removing your subscriber's emailfrom your email list automatically has it's own share ofproblems, and it doesn't work all the time. However, when youtalk about RSS, it's easy for your subscribers to unsubscribefrom your publication. They can stop receivingmessages from you any time by simply deleting your feed fromtheir RSS reader. Simple as that!

4. Get Your Message Out In An Instant - Whenever you havesomething new to publish, all you have to do is update youralready published feed and your message gets updated everywhereit's subscribed. No more worrying if your subscribers got yourmessage or not.

5. Never Get Accused of Spam - It's very easy to get accused ofsending unsolicited mail nowadays since people forget they evengave you their email address. RSS solves this problemcompletely, as the messages which you send out, will appeardirectly in your subscribers RSS reader. So the question ofcontacting them illegally does not even arise.

6. Build Long Lasting Relationships - Not only RSS builds astrong relationship with your existing subscribers but alsohelps in attracting new potent subscribers who are interested inwhat you offer. People who subscribe to your feed want toreceive content from you and hence, can be regarded assubscribers you can count on.

RSS can work like a charm for your business and help you gainthousands of quality subscribers and leads within a few weeks?

You just have to become a part of the orange revolution!

The Cheap and Effective Ways to boost Website traffics

Traffic is the life's blood of your website. If you're not getting any visitors to your site, you are certainly not going to make any sales, and that means your site is a hobby instead of a money making business. If your site is indeed a hobby then the amount of traffic you get doesn't matter, but if it is a business, then it's an entirely different story.

If you are just starting out, you may be low on cash to throw at your new website. Being a little strapped for cash doesn't mean that you can't get the traffic you need to start making sales. There are several low cost ways to start the traffic ball rolling in your direction, and they are thing which you can do yourself with relative ease.

Writing and submitting articles to article directories is a highly effective way to establish both a link back to your site and to gain the attention of the people who would be interested in what you have to offer. Articles are good for establishing a long term pathway to your website. You can even find niche article sites that cater to specific niches, so make sure you search for those when finding directories to submit to.

Using Search Engine Optimization will also increase your chances of showing up in web searches for your site's topic. Some people think SEO is really difficult to understand and implement, but it's really not hard at all. Having your keyword in your domain name, title tag, image alt tags and on the first paragraph is the type of things which SEO encompasses. See, it's not that bad at all is it?

To get a little quick exposure for your site, you can create a blog account at Blogger.com and then link back to your site. The posts made at a Blogger.com blog are easily picked up by the search engines. To make the most of your new blog, be sure to post three or four times daily with short posts which contain your keyword. Your site will be frequently updated if you link to it in your Blogger.com account. Blogging is easy and using Blogger.com is free.

Remember that forums can be one of your site's best friends. By frequenting related forums and participating by making well informed useful posts, you can increase traffic to you're your site. Most forums allow signature files, and you can put your site URL in your signature file for the forum visitors to see and search engines to find. Never set up a new account for any forum just to go post one liners or non informative posts. This not only makes you a forum spammer, it ruins any chances you had to develop any networking relationships within the forum community.

So there you have some simple, very effective and cheap ways to get visitors to your new or existing website. By implementing the techniques discussed, you should be guaranteed a steady stream of targeted traffic.

4 Key Things To Start Your Online Forum Community

by Cosmin Ghiurau
I know there are a lot of you who are have heard about the awesome power of having an online forum community. You have probably already been active in numerous forums and have begun to create a network of friends on these forums.
Next thing that goes through your mind is, “Why don’t I start a Forum of my own!” So you go ahead and begin to research on how to do it and realize that starting an online forum community is a lot harder than you thought!

Well, this article is about how to go about starting your own online forum in the easiest way possible. So lets here we go:

1. Establish Your Niche Topic for the Forum.
I have seen a lot of forums that I go to and they cover anything and everything in their forum. Now it is always good to have a “Chit Chat” or “Lounge” area of your forum to give members an opportunity to talk about anything. However, the success of your forum is to have a specific niche topic that will not only get your forum indexed by the search engines, but something that will attract your core audience.
This is one of the biggest obstacles to overcome even though it may seem the easiest thing to understand. Many novice forum webmasters see that they can add as many categories and sub-forums as they can in their overall website forum, and the main topic gets lost. In turn, when a visitor does happen to come the website, they are turned off by a ‘General’ forum.

2. Select the best Web Forum Script
There are so many forum scripts out there in which this is another huge major obstacle a novice webmaster comes across.
Your first tendancy will be to use the forum script that the forum you are most active on uses right?
Now there is nothing wrong with this, but sometimes these forums scripts are so modified and ‘hacked’ as is sometimes referred to modified forum scripts that it will be hard for you to create one just like your favorite forum.
I would suggest to start off with a free forum script that has the feature to ‘migrate’ forum information to another forum script. For example. Start off with the free forum script phpBB. This is by far the most powerful free script available. Even most web hosts have it part of their package that you can install on a single click (we’ll talk more about web hosts later).

Once you have phpBB installed, this is by far the best forum script in which other ‘paid for’ forum scripts have what is called ‘migration tools’ for. These migration tools is a script or tool that can transfer all of your forum information.
So for example, you website is successful and you wish to ‘change your forum foundation script’ to a ‘paid script’ such as vBulletin. vBulletin has a migration tool for phpBB, the process would be seamless and you wouldn’t lose any forum information.

The worst thing for a forum community is to have a lot of activity on the forum and then the webmaster decided to change the forum platform because the free one they started out with just doesn’t have all the features of other forum communities. So the webmaster changes the forum script and loses the forum information. I guarantee this will KILL your community.
So starting off with a wise plan in the beginning to grow is a huge step.

3. Selecting Your Web Host
The next thing after selecting what forum platform you wish to use, is the painfully hard decision of finding the right web host.
A web host is basically a company that ‘rents’ you space on their server for typically a monthly payment.
Now depending on your budget to start off with, I would say do a search on Google for the keyword: “Cheap Web Host”. You will see millions of results. Go through the websites of the top 10 results on your Google search and decide which one you need.

Please don't start a forum off in a ‘free web space’ or ‘free forum’ community. You are tied to that that web host and more than likely you will have tons of advertisements on your site that will annoy your members and more than that, it really screams that that your website is not a ‘permanent’ home for your members. Perception plays in key role in the success of your forum. If you forum looks and feels hard to use. No one will use it. Would you?

Please stay away from free forum web hosts!
Either way, you’ll be spending a few bucks a month on web hosting, but as you build your community you can slowly introduce your own Google Adsense or Banner Ad campaigns that will make you enough money to cover your web hosting costs and in many cases, enough to pay for your gas that month and more even more! Select a web host within your budget, and make sure that the host you select allows you to have forums. Since forums consume a lot of what is called ‘bandwidth’ and web space, some budget web hosts have a maximum on how much bandwidth and web space to use.

From my experience, if you start off with at least 1GB of space and 5 GB of bandwidth. That is MORE than you will need until your forum community is large enough to pay for itself on a larger web host, or even lease your own what is called ‘dedicated server’. Do a web search on Google for what a dedicated server is to find out more. A solid and reliable web host is one that answers customer support in a timely manner. Make sure that before you decide on a web host to contact that web host via their toll free phone number or support email. If they don’t answer quickly back to a potential customer how would they respond once they know you are a customer?

Do you homeword and make sure you are comfortable with the web host you choose because the last thing you need is to have to move web hosts and lose potential forum community information.

4. Driving Traffic to your Forum
Once you have everything up, you selected your niche, you found your forum community script, you installed it on a reliable host, you expect a flood of visitors to join as a member!
This is where the make it or break it part of the forum comes into play. If you have no visitors or members participating, your forum won’t grow.
My advice is to start off the circle where you began. Within your network of online friends. These days with so many forums and social networking websites, there are so many to choose from why should anyone join YOUR forum?
Well, you can use this network of websites to your advantage. Start off with the forums you are active in. If they allow you to advertise your forum or website, do it. Otherwise add a link to is in your signature. If you have thousands of posts your link on that forum will appear in thousands of places instantly!

Then go to other forums relevant to your topic and try to be active there with a link in your signature back to your website.

Announce your website launch to your friends in your Messenger systems.
Better yet! Try to do a marketing trick of giving away something to a random member once a week.

Above all, make sure YOU are active. Even if noone posts anything that day. Go in and post. Try to provoke a conversation with your posts. Once members join and are active give them the honor of being initial moderators of your forum. This will encourage them and make them feel like they are part of your forum community and will keep their loyalty to your forum. In turn what will they do? Tell THEIR friends about it. Now you are beginning to see what is called a ‘viral’ effect to driving traffic to your website.

Most of all, do not give up. Keep talking about your forum and inviting people to join. The more passionate and excited you are about your forum, the more others will see that in you and your friends and will be willing to spend time on your forum to build it up.

Once you go through these initial steps to starting your online forum community you are on the right track to have a successful community. Once this happens, you can easily think about even being able to earn money from your website that will cover your costs and place some ‘spare change’ in your pocket. This is all of course if you have the right niche, the right forum script, the right webhost, and the right methods to drive traffic to your forum! To your success!

How To Increase Targeted Web Site Traffic

How To Increase Targeted Web Site Traffic, Author: Titus Hoskins

I get on average around 10,000 to 12,000 unique visitors to my main site each month. Actually, when you're speaking about the Internet, that's not too much to brag about, but it's better than getting say 1000 or 2000 visitors; that was my usual rate until I aggressively went after targeted traffic for my site.

I thought I would briefly and in very simple terms explain how I increased the targeted traffic to my main site from around 1,000 to 10,000 unique visitors each month. That's a ten-fold increase -- I am aiming for a hundred-fold increase but would gladly settle for thirty or forty times the traffic.

How did I increase my site's traffic? The answer might just help you get more traffic to your own site. Most of these techniques are very simple to implement and if you're serious about building an online business, lets face it, the first thing you're going to need is targeted visitors to your site.

I hope you have noticed I have mentioned the words 'targeted visitors' several times already. I did this to bring home the fact that you're not just after traffic but targeted traffic or visitors to your site. You want visitors to your site who are already interested in your site's topic and who are more likely to benefit from your site's content or products.

It's the first ingredient for a successful web site.

Below are my 5 main sources of targeted traffic to my site. Along with a short explanation of how you can create or put the same practices to work for your own site.

1. RSS EMPOWERED One of most effective sources of traffic to my site would have to be my blogs and RSS feeds. Notice I said blogs and feeds; I have created simple blogs and feeds for the major topics of my site: on rss resources, web hosting solutions, notebook computers, etc. These blogs and feeds bring in a great number of targeted visitors to my site.

With the introduction of Google Blog Search, my blog traffic is increasing even more. Within minutes of posting to my blog - I am getting targeted traffic from Google. You are instantly indexed by Google Blog Search; it's reason enough for every webmaster to put at least one blog on their site.

Try to imagine the traffic you'll get when the next RSS empowered Windows browser arrives from Microsoft. Get your own site ready and prepared for RSS to take advantage of all this traffic. Just use Google owned blogger.com to create your blog -- it has that all important blog search bar at the top!

2. SEO EMPOWERED Seo optimization should be your goal! Still the main source of traffic to my site are the search engines. Mainly from Google, followed by MSN and Yahoo. You must optimize your site for the search engines. This includes off/site links and on/site tactics.

I have been online since '98 so I thought I knew how to optimize a website. Boy, was I ever wrong! I didn't notice a big jump in my traffic until I stumbled across a SEO expert, actually stumble is the wrong word, I actually sought out the best SEO expert I could find. His name is Brad Callen. He offers a free email course on how to optimize your sites for the search engines. His main product is SEO Elite.

Just the free course and his helpful newsletter have really fine-tuned my site, which resulted in a major increase of traffic especially from Google. You should try the same for your site or sites and see the results for yourself.

3. ARTICLE EMPOWERED This one works. Article marketing for me has been the major reason for the turn around in the amount of traffic my sites were receiving. It's one of the most effective ways to get targeted visitors to your site.

Getting your articles published in ezines and on sites such as addme.com or sitepronews.com will generate an enormous amount of traffic to your site. As a bonus, you even get 100's of subscribers to your own ezine in one day!

The trick is to write helpful how-to articles on current topics that other webmasters want on their sites, this will boost your link popularity with the search engines and increase your rankings. You must also very carefully choose the right keywords to target in your articles, matching the content on your site. One way to do this is with a site like www.nichebot.com -- it will show how to pick the right 'competitive' keywords for your site. You must target keywords that have high traffic, yet little competition from competing web sites.

My main sources of traffic from article sites include www.ezinearticles.com and www.buzzle.com.

4. EZINE EMPOWERED Building a large opt-in list or subscribers to my ezine is another method that brings in a lot of traffic to my site. You can use an ezine to offer helpful tips to your subscribers. It is a very easy way to get repeat visitors to your site and build up a relationship with your visitors.

Your ezine should relate to your site's theme and offer more information on the same. Whether you believe it not, if you operate a site on a particular subject for a couple of years, you will fast become an expert on that subject. People will regard you as such and this will also bring in visitors to your site.

5. VIRAL MARKETING EMPOWERED Another way to attract targeted visitors is to offer a free product or service. I use free brandable reports that visitors can download and use. These reports and ebooks have links back to my sites. One of my most popular ones is a timely report and guide on how to use and benefit from RSS on all your sites. It brings in a lot of traffic.

Similar to the one above, I use other free viral techniques to build targeted traffic to my site. These are products that can be branded with your links and passed around. Helpful software programs that match the theme of your site are good choices to make.

Another popular one that I have on my site is the DATEwise eCalendar and personal planner that visitors can download and place on their desktops. It has hotlinks to my site that brings in traffic. It can be customized with your site's products so you get targeted visitors or customers.

OTHER SOURCES There are other sources of traffic for my site that I find effective but they bring in lesser traffic than the methods listed above. But they are still worth mentioning, one of these is regular posting on major online forums. This brings in very good targeted traffic, so too, is posting comments in online blogs.

Another good source is a traffic exchange called 'Traffic Swarm' - most sites where members exchange traffic don't work. You get worthless hits to your site. However, Traffic Swarm is one exception that your should try. You just set your start page to this exchange, and click on sites you want to visit.

Increasing targeted traffic to your site is an ongoing struggle for every webmaster. I hope you can try some of the techniques that have worked for me. I am sure they will also work for you.

Empower your site with targeted traffic!

Are Online Blogs a Good Idea for My Kids?

"Are Online Blogs a Good Idea for My Kids?"
Online diaries -- aka blogs -- can be fun and innocent, or they can lead to trouble. Here's what parents need to know. By Stephanie Emma Pfeffer

The explosion of online diaries, or blogs (short for Web logs), has been fueled by adolescents: Of the estimated four million blogs, more than half were created by 10- to 19-year-olds. In these musings for public consumption, bloggers unload their innermost thoughts about everything from love to politics.

But what if some content is obscene or just plain nasty, especially about other kids or teachers? Can your child get in trouble, or can you? "A school can take disciplinary action if administrators believe it's warranted," says Kevin Leander, PhD, who studies technology use at Vanderbilt University, in Nashville.

The First Amendment protects most name-calling and statements of opinion, but making false statements that injure a person's reputation could provoke a lawsuit, with parents held liable for their minor's behavior, warns Sandra Baron, executive director of the Media Law Resource Center, in New York City.

While the majority of teens use blogs harmlessly, "many adolescents are not fully aware of the legal and moral consequences," notes Dr. Leander. So if you know or even suspect that your teen keeps a blog, talk to him about what's appropriate and ask permission to read it. You may need that clearance in any case, because a blogger can block access to a particular reader. Yes, Mom and Dad, that means you.

Show Consistency Over Time

This may be the single most important tip in this article. Google has shown an affinity towards sites that remain consistent in structure, growth, content, and popularity. At the risk of sounding prosaic, outside of receiving highly trusted inbound links, the best way to bring Google to trust you is to show Google over time that you are trustworthy.

Think about your relationship with Google as you would any other relationship. Relationships take time, they take commitment over time, and trust in a relationship needs to be cultivated. If you happen to screw up, it takes time to regain any trust that was lost.

With your website, show Google that you are consistent, that you are dedicated, and that you actually care. Do not change your website's structure or focus entirely just because you feel like it. Spend time every day for months, even years, growing your site and promoting your site. Take the time to make sure it is as user friendly as possible taking into account issues such as accessibility. And whatever you do, do not take the chance of trying to cheat on Google by using a 'shortcut' it can and will set you back in your relationship several months, if not longer.

Using Blog PR to Promote Your

by Adam McFarland

The recent trend of using the press release to promote an online business has emerged with good reason – good press costs very little and can do more for a business than thousands of dollars of marketing. Most businesses use press distribution services like PR Web or PRFree to get the word out about their news. While distribution services certainly can be effective, they tend to miss out on arguably the most influential group of the press – bloggers.

Bloggers mold and shape the opinions of their readers, who are normally the most important in their particular industry, many of whom are also bloggers. Not long after a post from an influential blogger, your news has been picked up by several other bloggers and within days you are all over the blogsphere. Before you know it your site is getting more attention than it would if a story ran in the local newspaper! So how do you get the influential bloggers in your industry to run a story about your business?

Why Would Anyone Do a Story About Your Business?
Are you a new company? Did you just launch a new product that they could review? Did your business win an award? Are you a group of college kids who started a company on savings from your summer jobs? You get the idea. There needs to be a reason that someone would want to read about you. Bloggers take pride in the content they feed their readers. You don't stand a chance of getting a blogger to write about you if you don't have a story that their readers will be interested in.

Research Bloggers in Your Industry
More is less when it comes to contacting bloggers. Buy a list of 1,000 bloggers and send out a generic email to all of them and you'll likely get no response. But send a small amount of personalized emails to the appropriate bloggers and you'll be shocked at how many positive responses you get.

The first step is to make a list of the bloggers that would be interested in your story. You can generally get a feel for whether or not a blogger would be interested in your story by reading a couple of posts and checking out their bio. If they've done a few similar stories in the past or they are heavily involved in your industry, there is a good chance they'll want to hear your story. If not, leave them off your list and move on.

The single best method that I have found to research blogs is the Technorati Blog Directory http://www.technorati.com/blogs/. You can peruse blogs in your industry in order of “authority” - how important Technorati thinks a blog is. This is extremely useful. For example, if you are in the travel industry, you can view a list of the most influential blogs in the world of travel.

Another great way to find the right bloggers is to search through your competitors press sections on their websites to see what blogs have mentioned them. You can also find out who has mentioned your competitors by looking at the sites that have linked to them (type in “links:www.theirsite.com” on Yahoo!). There's a good chance that if they found your competitors story interesting, they'll find your story interesting as well.

Compose Your Email
The best way to contact bloggers is by email. The good news is that most bloggers make themselves easy to access and provide their email addresses on their blogs. The bad news is that most people don't know what to do with said email address once they get it. Use the following outline for your email and you'll see amazing results:

Have a simple subject. You probably won't get many responses by treating your email like a press release and writing RELEASE in the subject line. Try something simple like “fan of your blog” or “comment about your blog.” You want to make sure they actually read your email and don't mentally mark it as SPAM when they see the subject.

Start by complementing them. Since you've read their blog and learned about them from their bio, you know quite a bit about them. Use it to your advantage. Complement them on your favorite post, or how cool it is that they worked for XYZ company.
Request them to post about you (be direct). In three sentences or less, tell them your story, why you think it would be of interest to them and their readers, and respectfully ask that they write a post about it. Be direct and to the point. They will respect that.
Offer something in return. You have something that could help them. Maybe it's a link back to their blog from your personal blog, or maybe you could provide them with a free product or service that could help them or their business. One way or another, there's something you have to offer them in return for the time spent on a post about you.

Close with something nice. Thank them for their time and wish them luck with their blog and/or business ventures.

Notice that of the five components of the email, only one is about your story. The rest of the email is spent complimenting them and offering them something. Your chances of getting a positive response have just gone through the roof. Every blogger, no matter how large, likes to hear that people are enjoying their posts.

Respond Promptly and Respectfully
Not everyone is going to agree to run your story. Some will say that they don't do that type of thing or that they don't have time. Since you have been so nice as to compliment them, they will still usually reply either way. Regardless of the response, be sure to thank them for their time and wish them luck with their ventures. You never know when they will encounter someone who needs your product or service in the future (remember, they are in your industry) and if they have a positive image of you and your company they will undoubtedly give you a good recommendation.

Sit Back and Watch the Traffic Roll In
Over the course of the next few weeks you will see post after post appear about your business. Be sure to send another thank you email to the blogger after the post and also be sure to promptly provide whatever you offered them in return. At this point you have developed a mutually beneficial relationship with someone important in your industry that can become invaluable over time.

That wasn't that hard was it? With a little research and a carefully crafted email, any business can effectively use blog PR to drive traffic to their site.

Three Free Marketing Techniques

by Michael McLaughlin

If you have zero budget then this is the article for you. In this article I will discuss the best ways to market your website for free.
#1. Articles: An example of using articles to promote your website is this article. At the bottom of it should be my author bylines. If you are a good writer and know were to submit your articles then this can be possible they best traffic generator ever. By submitting articles to ezine editors, website owners, and publishers, you can generate traffic through your bylines. If you even get 1 ezine editor to publish your article in a popular ezine you can generate 50 visitors for free. The best way to get targeted visitors is to write something that people who buy your product would be interested in. For example I wrote this article because I know that webmasters are always looking for marketing techniques and my website is for webmasters.

#2. Ebooks: People love free information and ebooks are one of the main sources for this. Ebooks have the potential to keep on growing if they provide important and unique information. Though the only way they can grow rapidly is if they have distribution and resell rights. Ebooks like articles are viral because they provide free information and information is shared quickly if it is quality. If they have distribution and resell rights then people will customize the ebook with there links but as long as you have your links scattered in the ebook then you will generate many visitors. The best technique is to email all your affiliates and tell them they can customize the ebook with there affiliate links making them some money and you to in the process. This gives them incentive to distribute them.

#3. Search Engines: This one doesn't seem to go with the first 2 but it is the 3rd best free traffic driver. The reason this is third and not first though it brings more traffic than ebooks and articles is because it is an art to getting top search engine ranking for your keywords. Search engines drive approximately 40% of my traffic, I would rather this number be closer to 20% because it is not good depending on one source of traffic especially one as unstable as search engines. For example goggle's Florida update.
